Indeed, according to the report of the study on the mapping of cashew orchards carried out in 2022, the national average yield is below 400 kg\/ha for a potential of up to 1,200 kg\/ha. The explanatory factors for the low yields are: (i) lack of knowledge and insufficient application of good practices for orchard creation and maintenance, (ii) insufficient technical supervision of producers, (iii) the low yield potential of the varieties used and (iv) difficulties of access (low availability and high cost) for producers to improved plant material developed by research structures. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to meet the challenges of increasing orchard yields, the Burkinabe Cashew Council (CBA) is increasing initiatives aimed at the availability and mass distribution of grafted seedlings from elite trees in different localities of the country. It is in this dynamic that a call for expressions of interest is being launched for the selection of nurserymen with a view to establishing model cashew woodlots in the Southwest and Central West regions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Targets&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This call for projects is open to nurserymen of both sexes from the Centre-West and South-West regions. The distribution of timber yards by region is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Table I:&nbsp;<\/strong>Distribution of timber yards by region<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>R\u00e9gion<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Number of planned timber yards<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Central West<\/td><td>02<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Southwest<\/td><td>02<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Eligibility requirements<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nurserymen meeting the following conditions may take part in this call for projects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reside in the region concerned<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disposer d\u2019un terrain s\u00e9curis\u00e9 d\u2019une superficie d\u2019au moins 0,5 Ha&nbsp;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00eatre un producteur de plants greff\u00e9s reconnu notamment de l\u2019anacarde &nbsp;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>s&rsquo;engager \u00e0 s\u2019acquitter de sa contribution \u00e0 hauteur du montant d\u00e9fini dans les modalit\u00e9s de financement&nbsp;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>s\u2019engager \u00e0 assurer l\u2019entretien p\u00e9riodique du parc \u00e0 bois&nbsp;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>undertake to facilitate visits and operation of the timber yard by other nurserymen;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>agree to supply surplus grafts to nurserymen who express the need at reasonable costs (not exceeding 25F CFA the unit)&nbsp;<strong>25F CFA<\/strong>&nbsp;the unit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have a positive borehole of at least 5m3\/h is an asset;<sup>3<\/sup>\/h est un atout&nbsp;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have a positive borehole of at least 5m3\/h is an asset;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Description and implementation methodology<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The establishment of these model timber yards includes the following activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>r\u00e9aliser un forage \u00e9quip\u00e9 muni d\u2019un ch\u00e2teau d&rsquo;eau et d\u2019un syst\u00e8me de pompage solaire&nbsp;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>installer le r\u00e9seau d&rsquo;irrigation goutte \u00e0 goutte sur un superficie de 0,5 ha&nbsp;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>build the fence with wire mesh or barbed wire;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>acqu\u00e9rir la semence (plants greff\u00e9s) aupr\u00e8s des structures de recherche&nbsp;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>prepare the ground (cleaning, staking, drilling)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>apporter de la fumure organique&nbsp;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>plant and maintain the plants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The financing and execution of the activities will be jointly ensured by the CBA and the promoter as indicated in the following table:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Table II<\/strong>&nbsp;: distribution of activities by stakeholder<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Stakeholder<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Activities to be carried out<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>CBA<\/td><td>\u2013 carry out a borehole equipped with a water tower and a solar pumping system;- install the drip irrigation network;- acquire grafted plants;- train the promoter on the maintenance of the irrigation network.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Promoter<\/td><td>\u2013 carry out primary water research on the site;- prepare the ground;- build the fence;- add organic manure;- plant and maintain the plants<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CBA will recruit a service provider to carry out the activities for which they provide funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The promoter takes the necessary steps to ensure the financing and execution of the activities for which it is responsible, within a time limit set by mutual agreement with the CBA.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Financing terms<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funding will be provided through a cost-sharing grant mechanism. The CBA's in-kind grant is approximately 10,000,000 CFA francs for each timber yard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0<strong>Composition of the file<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The application file is made up of the following documents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A copy of the valid Burkinabe National Identity Card (CNIB);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A document certifying the practice of the nursery profession (Professional card, training certificate, monitoring certificate issued by the services responsible for agriculture or the environment);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The curriculum vitae;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A land security document for the site (APFR, transfer report, land title, operating permit);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A commitment to respect its obligations signed by the promoter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The application form is available at the CBA headquarters or at the DRARAH Sud-Ouest and Centre-Ouest or can be downloaded from the CBA website&nbsp;<strong>(<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cba.bf\/\"><strong>cba.bf\/<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong>&nbsp;or on the page Facebook :&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/N4t2AastkWRDWceZ\/?mibextid=qi2Omg;\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/N4t2AastkWRDWceZ\/?mibextid=qi2Omg;<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Period and places of deposit<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les dossiers de candidatures sont recevables \u00e0 l\u2019adresse&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:secretariat@cba.bf\"><\/a><strong><a href=\"mailto:secretariat@cba.bf\">\"Burkinab\u00e8 Council of Agropastoral and Fisheries Sectors: Official Installation of the Secretary General and the Director of Finance and Accounting.\"<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;or in a sealed envelope to the CBA headquarters and to the Regional Directorates in charge of agriculture in the Centre-West and South-West West (DRARAH Centre-West and DRARAH South-West).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deadline for submissions is set at&nbsp;<strong>Monday, July 15, 2024 at 4:00 p.m..<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Selection procedure<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A committee will be set up to select the most deserving candidates from each region.
